Event Information:
Start the New Year with a proper health kick by signing up for the Brighton Marathon!

The Brighton Marathon is a newbie on the marathon circuit, and is already ranked in the top 12 running events across the UK. Now in its third year the race will take you through the South-East's beloved seaside city. The race route for the Marathon starts with a loop of gorgeous Preston Park, and then takes in the best of the city centre including Brighton Pavilion and fabulous stretches of coastal road, including panoramic views that you'd expect where the glorious South Downs meet the English Channel.

Generally, it is a fast course, held exclusively on roads and tarmac promenade and the entire route is free of traffic.Of course there are some undulations in the route, principally in the first 11 miles of the race, while the last 15 miles is either flat or downhill.

The event takes place on 15th April 2012, so there is still time to train!

The Rainforest Foundation UK has charity places left for the race. Sign up and you could part of a team of 12 runners who'll be running the race to help fund the Rainforest Foundation's work in more than 20 countries across three continents.

We ask our runners to pledge to raise about £500 (with the £40 deposit we ask going towards your fundraising target) and we'll be on hand to support you with your fundraising and with your training. We support ourrunners in a few different ways:

• We have a special "Brighton Marathon runner" fundraising pack with ideas for fundraising which outlinesfor how your fundraising helps

• We offer merchandise (pins, cotton bags etc) for you to sell to your supporters, or as an incentive for bigger donations (ie if someone sponsors you more than say £20)

• We organise a social event to tell you and the rest of the team more about the Rainforest Foundation so you can confidently talk about the charity you're raising funds for

• We'll also organise a training event with Mike Gratton (1983 London Marathon Winner), and a chat afterwards to exchange training tips etc

• Everyone also gets a Rainforest Foundation running vest for the big day

• We'll have staff along the route to cheer you on, and at the end of the race we'll be waiting for you at the Charity Village area refreshments and a well-deserved picnic.
