Rainforest Runners

Name: James Pritchard
I like to be called: James
Age: 36
Home town: Wolverhampton
Before I train I like to...
Prepare myself physically and mentally for the run ahead of me. My training consists of 4 runs a week totalling 10 hours a week and 1 swim of over 1 hour.
I train this many days a week: 4
And for this many hours: 3
My PB for this event is: 4 hours 50 minutes
I hope I can make it in: 5 hours 30 minutes
After I train I like to...
Take a long shower and put my feet up and then think "Wow I have run a really long way".
The music that gets me motivated is...
Alas I don't listen to music before or whilst running as I am very focused on what I do.
Mr breakfast of champions consists of...
Steel Cut Oatmeal and a home made fruit smoothie.
I love to run, but what I love more is...
Watching Monty Python or getting stuck into a new book.
If I could run anywhere I'd like to run...
Around Paris.
My hot tip for runners is...
Don't think about the distance you have to run, be present and when you get out, go at your own pace and enjoy the environment that you are running around - it is amazing what you will see and notice that you never knew was there before.
Running for the Rainforest is important to me because...
I have had the luxury of living and working in Belize and experiencing the Rainforests first hand. To trek through a secondary Rainforest that has been cut down by loggers and seeing the base of a Mahogany Tree makes you realise how insignificant some things can be and to live in awe of what the tree must have been like when it was standing. I have had the rare privilege of seeing a pair of Jaguars in there natural habitat. To think that such wonders and beauty in this world could one day disappear and no one will ever know what it is like saddens me. To enable to raise money for the Rainforest Foundation to help prevent such destruction is a great honour for me.
After I run the Marathon this year I will be...
Thinking I never want to run another marathon again......... but alas this is my second marathon so who knows.
If you want to sponsor me my JustGiving page is:
Is there anything you'd like to know about the other runners in your team?
Updates on how well they are doing for training and what there target is for the marathon.
Is there anything you'd like to say?
Having done one marathon I know the pressures and demands and commitment a person has to go through for training for the London Marathon. I am really in awe for anyone who can do this. It is not just a matter about turning up on the day and running the marathon that those who watch it on the television might not realise. Anyone who can run a marathon regardless of the time is truly amazing in my eyes. I hope that, this will also be reflected in the money we can all raise for the Rainforest Foundation.
