Rainforest Runners

Name: Kenneth Ebbage

I like to be called: Ken

Age: 56

Home town: St Albans

Before I train I like to...

Wake up - I mostly train first thing in the morning. 4 times a week for about an hour, with a longer run of 2 hours at the weekend.

I train this many days a week: 4

And for this many hours: 1

My PB for this event is: I have not run a full marathon before, but I did the distance in a gentle 5 hours and 15 minutes last week.

I hope I can make it in: 5 hours

After I train I like to...

Relax in a warm bath.

The music that gets me motivated is...

Almost any live music, though Jazz Fusion is my favourite. I don't normally listen while training, so am looking forward to hearing some live music during the race.

Mr breakfast of champions consists of...

Full English.

I love to run, but what I love more is...

Planting trees - The Woodland Trust is creating a new forest near where I live.

If I could run anywhere I'd like to run...

I travel a lot on business, so have already trained in quite a few different cities, Running along the Strip in Las Vegas at 5am is an interesting experience. I like running by the sea, as it always flat.

My hot tip for runners is...

Listen when your body tells you to take it easy. It is much better to slow down than injure yourself.

Running for the Rainforest is important to me because...

I am concerned about the future of our planet. Rainforests are a valuable method of capturing carbon, so we need to do all we can to protect them.

After I run the Marathon this year I will be...

Very tired.

If you want to sponsor me my JustGiving page is:

Is there anything you'd like to know about the other runners in your team?

Is there anything you'd like to say?

I started running later in life to accompany my daughter, Alice, on the road when she was about 11, As she improved, we were happy to run at the same speed and had some great father/daughter times. Now she runs for her university and suggested that we should do the ultimate challenge of a marathon together. I am not sure that we will be running together for much of the way though.
