Fundraising Ideas

You don’t need lots of spare time to make a valuable contribution to the work of the Rainforest Foundation, just a bit of enthusiasm and imagination! There are hundreds of ways in which you can get involved with raising valuable funds and awareness for our work. Have a look below for some inspiration and don’t forget that we are here to support your fundraising every step of the way.
Anything goes – from a rainforest art exhibition using recycled materials to an auction of promises, think of fun, low cost events that really get people involved.

Bring and Buy Sale – the perfect and simple way to recycle unwanted belongings and make some money in the process.

Collection boxes – do you own or work in a shop, or have space at your reception desk or in your local pub for a collection box? If so please let us know, all those pennies really do add up!

Dog walking – are you an animal lover? Why not do your neighbours a good turn and offer to walk their dogs (for a small fee!)

EBay it! eBay for charities enables you to give some or all of the profits from an item you sell on e-bay to the Rainforest Foundation. Visit eBay for charities to find out more.

Fine Box! – take one into work and watch it fill up with change as you challenge colleagues to give up coffee, tea or swearing.

Go green!! Get sponsored to dress in green all day, or hold a green dinner party – extend the theme to the food making sure that everything is fair trade and avoiding un-environmentally friendly products like palm oil.

Horseracing, football, or rugby – why not run a sweepstake amongst your friends and family and split the proceeds between the winner and charity.

Instead of receiving gifts on special occasions, why not ask friends and family to donate to the Rainforest Foundation on your behalf instead, you could even set up your own Justgiving page
Jelly – Jelly Wellie races, Jellie on a spoon race, Jellie eating competitions – the jelly possibilities are endless and the sillier the better!

Kareoke evening – what could be better than watching your friends and family embarrass themselves for a great cause! You could hold it in your local pub or community centre and charge for tickets.

Litter collection – why not clean up your neighbourhood and raise some funds in the process.

Marathon – the ultimate running endurance test – whether its London, Berlin, New York or the Great Wall of China there’s a marathon out there for you. Why not run and raise funds for the Rainforest Foundation, see Rainforest Events for more details.

Non-uniform or dress down day – ask your school or your boss for permission to organise a day where everyone can wear what they want to school or work, in return for a donation to the Rainforest Foundation.

On your bike! Try cycling to work for a month and donate the cost of your travel card, as well as getting fit and taking direct action to help the environment.

Plant sale! – a great way for the green fingered to raise some money – re-pot cuttings to sell on, or ask your locale garden centre to donate some plants.

Quiz nights are always a success. Try asking your local pub or community centre to let you hold it there free of charge, and charge for team entries. You could even include a special ‘green round’ with environmentally focused questions.

Running – if a marathon isn’t your thing, why not try a fun run, or an old fashioned sports day with sack races, egg and spoon race and obstacle course!

Sponsored…. swim, spell, silence, sky dive – the possibilities are endless, as long as it is safe and legal, ask your friends to sponsor you to do that adventurous thing you’ve always wanted to do!

Treasure Hunt – get everyone involved in the mystery. See if you can persuade a local business to donate a prize so that all of the teams entry money can go to charity.

Unicyling? The Euphonium? Why not try something new and get sponsored to learn it to a certain level.

Vegetarianism? – why not try a different diet for a month – a real challenge for carnivores!

Walk to work or school – see all the spare change that builds up now you don’t have to pay unnecessary bus fares, and feel your fitness levels improve!

Xtraordinary tales – why not start a book group or a book swop scheme – if everyone pays a pound a book it’ll soon start to add up.

Yoga, or yodeling – whatever your good at, why not form a club – give lessons to your friends and colleagues and charge a small fee in return.

Zzzzzz – you must be exhausted after all that fundraising! Have a well earned rest and read our latest newsletter or have a look on our website to see what you have helped us to achieve – THANK YOU!
