Policy advisor needed in DRC

We are looking for a policy advisor, to be based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, who will develop a programme of advocacy work with the Rainforest Foundation and our Congolese partners, aimed at ensuring that DRC takes an approach to forest policy and legislation that puts forest communities at its centre.

In order to apply for the post, you would ideally have:
• At least 4 years’ experience of policy and advocacy work, ideally on forest and/or forest peoples’ issues
• An understanding of current policy debates on forest resource management and community rights and the relevant international instruments
• Strong communication skills in French and English
• A working knowledge of at least one of DRC’s national languages
• The ability to plan and work independently and a willingness to travel and work in remote areas in DRC
