Numerosos proyectos de larga data ya est\u00e1n en marcha o en fase de planificaci\u00f3n seria, y con ello ha aumentado la preocupaci\u00f3n por el impacto medioambiental y humano.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;color: white\">Nuestra investigaci\u00f3n ha descubierto que estos proyectos suelen carecer de transparencia, est\u00e1n dise\u00f1ados principalmente para servir a intereses creados espec\u00edficos, en lugar de beneficiar al desarrollo, y presentan fallos cr\u00f3nicos en los sistemas de salvaguarda social y medioambiental, que ya est\u00e1n causando perjuicios. La inadecuada consideraci\u00f3n de los verdaderos costes incluye sus impactos indirectos o acumulativos, que pueden ir mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los del propio proyecto; el desplazamiento de las comunidades locales, as\u00ed como otros costes sociales y culturales; y la renuncia a posibles enfoques alternativos. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;color: white\">Es probable que la mayor\u00eda, si no todos, tengan impactos a largo plazo, significativos y probablemente irreversibles en los bosques. Para evitar y mitigar estos costes, debe haber una mayor transparencia en el desarrollo de estos proyectos, integr\u00e1ndolos en procesos participativos de planificaci\u00f3n del uso de la tierra y un refuerzo de la tenencia local y otros derechos de las poblaciones locales.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tQu\u00e9 estamos haciendo\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Nuestra investigaci\u00f3n sobre el desarrollo de infraestructuras y las carreteras para la explotaci\u00f3n forestal dio lugar a un importante estudio de la ONU que est\u00e1 poniendo en tela de juicio supuestos arraigados sobre la deforestaci\u00f3n y la forma de atajarla.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Junto con nuestros socios, hemos hecho campa\u00f1a para detener proyectos de infraestructuras destructivas, como las presas hidroel\u00e9ctricas previstas en el Parque Nacional de Ivindo, en Gab\u00f3n, y en el r\u00edo Ene, en Per\u00fa, protegiendo decenas de miles de hect\u00e1reas de bosque.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Nuestra campa\u00f1a sobre las turberas de la Cuvette Centrale pretende proteger uno de los mayores sumideros de carbono del mundo frente al desarrollo imprudente de combustibles f\u00f3siles e infraestructuras asociadas, entre otras amenazas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/stories\/28900d3426fd485db15f94ea6126a477\"
