RFUK calcula que, s\u00f3lo en una redada, las autoridades peruanas incautaron y destruyeron equipos de miner\u00eda ilegal por valor de m\u00e1s de un mill\u00f3n de libras esterlinas.<\/p>\r\n<blockquote><p>\"Esta es una de las mayores intervenciones que nuestra aplicaci\u00f3n ForestLink ha apoyado nunca\".<\/p><\/blockquote>\r\n<p>explica el Coordinador Principal del Programa de RFUK para Per\u00fa y la Amazonia Andina, Aldo Soto.<\/p>\r\n<blockquote><p>\"La extracci\u00f3n ilegal de oro se ha descontrolado totalmente en la \u00faltima d\u00e9cada, convirtiendo esta selva tropical biodiversa en un 'Salvaje Oeste' de destrucci\u00f3n medioambiental. Pero como hemos visto en las \u00faltimas semanas, los grupos ind\u00edgenas se est\u00e1n empoderando para contraatacar.\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\r\n<p>Con el apoyo de RFUK y la organizaci\u00f3n ind\u00edgena\u00a0<em>Federaci\u00f3n Nativa del R\u00edo Madre de Dios y Afluentes<\/em>\u00a0(FENAMAD), las dos intervenciones se organizaron con rapidez y en colaboraci\u00f3n con varios organismos nacionales, entre ellos un grupo operativo de la polic\u00eda medioambiental, funcionarios forestales y de fauna salvaje y un fiscal especial de medio ambiente.<\/p>\r\n<p>La extracci\u00f3n ilegal de oro se ha convertido en uno de los principales motores de la deforestaci\u00f3n en Made de Dios, con muchas comunidades ind\u00edgenas abrumadas por un nivel de destrucci\u00f3n medioambiental sin precedentes, incluida la contaminaci\u00f3n de los r\u00edos cercanos utilizados para el agua potable y la pesca local.<\/p>\r\n<blockquote><p>\"Ser ind\u00edgena es estar relacionado con la naturaleza y el bosque. Si se pierde eso, se pierde la propia esencia\", afirm\u00f3 el Presidente de FENAMAD, Julio Cusurichi. \"Los monitores comunitarios denuncian cada vez m\u00e1s actividades mineras mediante ForestLink, y la colaboraci\u00f3n con las autoridades locales ha resultado muy positiva. Juntos estamos deteniendo la destrucci\u00f3n de los bosques en Madre de Dios\".<\/p><\/blockquote>\r\n<p>La aplicaci\u00f3n ForestLink de RFUK se desarroll\u00f3 en 2015 para ayudar a las comunidades locales y a las organizaciones de la sociedad civil a informar sobre las actividades ilegales que causan la deforestaci\u00f3n en sus tierras ancestrales y sus alrededores. El sistema se prob\u00f3 por primera vez en la regi\u00f3n peruana de Made de Dios en 2016, en colaboraci\u00f3n con FENAMAD.
