Esta fue la conclusi\u00f3n central del taller virtual\u00a0<em>El papel de ForestLink y el seguimiento comunitario en la mejora de la gobernanza forestal\".\u00a0<\/em>que RFUK organiz\u00f3 del 24 al 26 de noviembre junto con nuestros socios de Camer\u00fan, la Rep\u00fablica Democr\u00e1tica del Congo, Ghana y Liberia.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rainforestfoundationuk.org\/es\/rtm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ForestLink\u00a0<\/a>es una herramienta de vigilancia comunitaria en tiempo real que conecta a las comunidades forestales locales con las fuerzas del orden nacionales para detener la deforestaci\u00f3n ilegal y promover los derechos de los pueblos de los bosques. Durante la reuni\u00f3n, los participantes compartieron experiencias sobre c\u00f3mo ha sacado a la luz la corrupci\u00f3n en la industria maderera, ha desencadenado casos emblem\u00e1ticos, ha dado lugar a importantes medidas de aplicaci\u00f3n de la ley y se ha traducido en mayores beneficios para las comunidades gracias a los acuerdos de responsabilidad social con las empresas madereras.<\/p>\r\n<p>Gaia Allison, que representaba al FCDO y pronunci\u00f3 unas palabras introductorias al taller, lo describi\u00f3 como\u00a0<em>\"una mezcla \u00fanica de empoderamiento y datos que pueden utilizarse para informar la pol\u00edtica y el di\u00e1logo\".<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>Con ForestLink cada vez m\u00e1s reconocido como una poderosa herramienta para mejorar la gobernanza forestal, los 80 participantes estudiaron c\u00f3mo ampliar y desplegar el sistema ante las complejas y crecientes amenazas que se ciernen sobre los bosques.<\/p>\r\n<p>En palabras de David Young, experto independiente en seguimiento forestal,<em>\u00a0\"Los problemas est\u00e1n en todas partes, por lo que las soluciones tienen que ser sist\u00e9micas, y por eso ForestLink y Real-time Monitoring tienen tanto que ofrecer\".<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>La reuni\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n brind\u00f3 a los profesionales la oportunidad de compartir buenas pr\u00e1cticas y lecciones aprendidas en los distintos pa\u00edses, como la facilitaci\u00f3n de procesos impulsados por las comunidades, la protecci\u00f3n de los defensores de los derechos humanos medioambientales y la gesti\u00f3n de datos. Otras sesiones se centraron en c\u00f3mo reforzar la implicaci\u00f3n institucional y superar la resistencia a una mayor transparencia en el sector forestal por parte de intereses creados.<\/p>\r\n<p>Roland Harris, Director de Programas de Civil Society-Independent Forest Monitor en Liberia, ha declarado: \"<em>Asistir al taller de ForestLink fue muy gratificante, aunque somos relativamente nuevos en el uso de RTM, pero el intercambio de experiencias y todas las dem\u00e1s curvas de aprendizaje me han impactado positivamente.<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<p>Esta reuni\u00f3n marc\u00f3 otro hito en un viaje para liberar el potencial de los guardianes de los bosques en la batalla contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico. Gaia Allison, reiter\u00f3\u00a0<em>\"Apoyar la gesti\u00f3n comunitaria de los bosques es clave y estar\u00e1 en la agenda de la COP del clima del pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o en el Reino Unido\".<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>Joe Eisen, Director Ejecutivo de RFUK<em>, coincidi\u00f3: \"Las comunidades no son espectadores pasivos, sino que tienen un papel crucial en la protecci\u00f3n de los bosques.
