Actualmente se encuentra en la regi\u00f3n de Madre de Dios, en la Amazonia peruana, donde trabajamos con comunidades ind\u00edgenas para proteger su selva tropical.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\"Estoy aqu\u00ed para formar a las comunidades en el uso de ForestLink, que permite a los habitantes de las zonas m\u00e1s remotas del bosque informar en tiempo real de las amenazas que se ciernen sobre la selva tropical. Estoy formando a miembros seleccionados de cada comunidad en el uso de los dispositivos ForestLink y colaborando con nuestra organizaci\u00f3n asociada y las autoridades locales para garantizar la detenci\u00f3n de madereros y mineros ilegales.<\/p>\n<p>Visit\u00e9 Puerto Luz con Jorge Tayori, que vive en la Reserva Comunal Amarakaeri, una zona protegida de selva tropical gestionada por grupos ind\u00edgenas. Jorge me llev\u00f3 a ver un \"\u00e1rbol madre\" de Tornillo (Cedrelinga Cateniformis) que ha sido talado ilegalmente dentro de la reserva: Los \"\u00e1rboles madre\" son los m\u00e1s grandes de un bosque y act\u00faan como ejes centrales, sosteniendo a los \u00e1rboles j\u00f3venes al transportarles los nutrientes que necesitan para crecer.<\/p>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n nos desplazamos a toda una zona que ha sido talada para la extracci\u00f3n ilegal de oro. La situaci\u00f3n aqu\u00ed es muy complicada, con el bosque amenazado tanto por la tala como por la miner\u00eda, y por eso es importante que un sistema como ForestLink pueda adaptarse para informar sobre cualquier tipo de amenaza.
