ENGLAND DESAFIADA A JUGAR POR UNA TRIBU DE LA SELVA BRASILE\u00d1A<\/strong><\/p>\n

La selecci\u00f3n inglesa de f\u00fatbol ha sido retada a un partido por uno de los pueblos amaz\u00f3nicos m\u00e1s grandes y feroces de Brasil, los Kayap\u00f3.<\/p>\n

En una carta enviada hoy al seleccionador de Inglaterra, Roy Hodgson, el Jefe Raoni Metuktire y el Jefe Megaron Txucarramae, han invitado al equipo a su territorio selv\u00e1tico \"despu\u00e9s de jugar contra Brasil en la final\".<\/p>\n

\"Todos somos grandes aficionados al f\u00fatbol y desafiamos a Inglaterra a jugar contra la 'selecci\u00f3n nacional' kayap\u00f3\", escribi\u00f3 el jefe Megaron.<\/p>\n

\"Vivimos junto al r\u00edo Xingu, en la parte oriental de la selva amaz\u00f3nica. Nuestro pueblo es muy tradicional y seguimos viviendo como nuestros antepasados, as\u00ed que ser\u00eda una gran oportunidad para que vieras c\u00f3mo vivimos.\"<\/p>\n

Los jefes adjuntaron a su carta una fotograf\u00eda de algunos miembros del \"equipo nacional\" kayap\u00f3.<\/p>\n

Los dos jefes visitar\u00e1n el Reino Unido del 9 al 11 de junio para alertar a la poblaci\u00f3n brit\u00e1nica de la continua destrucci\u00f3n de la selva amaz\u00f3nica. Su visita incluir\u00e1 una reuni\u00f3n con S.A.R. el Pr\u00edncipe Carlos y miembros del Parlamento.<\/p>\n

La Rainforest Foundation UK fue fundada hace 25 a\u00f1os, en 1989, por Sting y Trudie Styler, tras comprobar de primera mano el impacto que la destrucci\u00f3n de la selva amaz\u00f3nica ten\u00eda en el modo de vida de los indios Kayap\u00f3.<\/p>\n

Esto desencaden\u00f3 la primera campa\u00f1a de la Fundaci\u00f3n que, en 1993, se tradujo en la protecci\u00f3n de 27.359 km\u00b2 de tierras de pueblos ind\u00edgenas. Hasta la fecha, la Fundaci\u00f3n ha trabajado en m\u00e1s de 20 pa\u00edses para cumplir su misi\u00f3n de \"apoyar a los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y a las poblaciones tradicionales de la selva tropical del mundo para que protejan sus hogares en la selva tropical y cumplan sus derechos a la tierra, la vida y el sustento\".<\/p>\n\t
