Las organizaciones de la sociedad civil presionan a los candidatos presidenciales sobre sus compromisos medioambientales en v\u00edsperas de las elecciones presidenciales en la RDC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<p><em>Kinshasa<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last week, Congolese civil society organisations knocked at the door of several candidates running for the upcoming DRC presidential elections to ask them to prioritize pressing environmental issues in their electoral campaigns and manifestos.<\/p>\n<p>Activists from Extinction Rebellion Movement of the University of Goma (XR), in partnership with North Kivu-based civil society network Reseau CREF and environmental NGOs APEM and Fecopeile have so far met with Martin Faylulu, Floribert Anzuluni and the team of Marie Josee Ikofu ahead of the national poll scheduled for the end of December.<\/p>\n<p>During these meetings, they denounced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebureauinvestigates.com\/stories\/2023-11-02\/backroom-deals-mystery-companies-and-a-killer-lake-inside-drcs-gas-and-oil-auction\">lack of transparency<\/a> in the country&#8217;s ongoing auction of 30 oil and gas blocks, many of which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rainforestfoundationuk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Congo-in-the-Crosshairs-Report-EN.pdf\">overlap with protected areas, carbon-rich peatlands and ancestral lands of thousands of communities<\/a>.
