On 18 November in Bel\u00e9m,\u00a0another\u00a0Congolese campaign group,\u00a0Notre Terre Sans\u00a0P\u00e9trole<\/i>\u00a0(NTSP),\u00a0will launch a white paper outlining how the DRC can truly become a “solutions country” by investing in rights-based models and shifting from extractive industries toward a low-carbon energy transition.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
Will Article 6 negotiations trigger a boom\u00a0in\u00a0carbon markets?\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
Negotiations on Article 6,\u00a0a central element of the Paris Agreement that\u00a0establishes\u00a0the framework for international cooperation on climate targets (NDCs),\u00a0are expected to take centre\u00a0stage at COP30.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
With some predicting that Article 6 negotiations could pave the way for a surge in voluntary carbon markets,\u00a0our joint policy brief\u00a0with the Sustainable Development Strategies Group (SDSG) warns against the inclusion of\u00a0unproven and risky nature-based offsets<\/a>\u00a0under this mechanism.
