Congolese Human Rights Observatory (Observatoire Congolais des Droits de l'Homme), OCDH, one of RFUK's local partners based in the Republic of Congo, has been awarded the 2015 French Republic's Human Rights Prize.
The organisation's executive director, Trésor Nzila Kendet, who accepted the award at a ceremony held today (Friday) in Paris, said it was well-deserved and was testement to the work they have done in support of human rights in their country.
"It also strengthens OCDH’s leadership among civil society organisations committed to the cause of human rights and the rule of law in Congo. The prize will enable us to finance projects related to the issue of “business and human rights”, particularly to support communities whose rights have been violated by business activities through forced evictions and land grabbing,” he added.
This is the second time OCDH have received this prize, which includes a grant of 15,000 euros, over the past 10 years. This year, the organisation was one of five global recipients.
