La demande de la communaut\u00e9 ...<\/p>\r\n<p>Face aux demandes r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9es de la communaut\u00e9 pour examiner les nombreux cas signal\u00e9s d\u2019exploitation ill\u00e9gale par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Transport Bois N\u00e9goce International (TBNI) dans son Unit\u00e9 Foresti\u00e8re de Gestion UFG-2 sur la route Makokou - Mekambo, le minist\u00e8re a jusqu\u2019alors largement r\u00e9pondu par le silence. Les ill\u00e9galit\u00e9s all\u00e9gu\u00e9es comprennent le manque d\u2019\u00e9tudes d\u2019impact social et environnemental, l\u2019omission de mettre en place un m\u00e9canisme \u00e9quitable de partage des b\u00e9n\u00e9fices avec le village, et la destruction de sites sensibles (une liste compl\u00e8te est fournie dans un tableau joint en annexe \u00e0 la lettre).<\/p>\r\n\t<blockquote><p>\"La zone vis\u00e9e par le permis de la TBNI contient nos villages ancestraux. Cela menace jusqu\u2019\u00e0 11.300 hectares des terres ancestrales de la communaut\u00e9, plusieurs sites sacr\u00e9s et une zone d\u2019une grande importance bioculturelle, abritant des populations d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9phants de for\u00eat d\u2019Afrique, de gorilles des plaines, de chimpanz\u00e9s et de pangolins g\u00e9ants.<\/p>\r\n<p>Face \u00e0 ces menaces, nous appuyons pleinement\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iccaconsortium.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/letter-of-support-for-massaha-eng.pdf\">Les efforts actuels de Massaha pour \u00e9tablir une zone prot\u00e9g\u00e9e g\u00e9r\u00e9e par la communaut\u00e9<\/a>\u00a0Ce genre d\u2019initiative repr\u00e9sente une solution de rechange importante au mod\u00e8le de conservation stricte et militaris\u00e9 qui pr\u00e9vaut dans une grande partie du Gabon et de la r\u00e9gion plus large et qui a eu de graves r\u00e9percussions sur les droits de l\u2019homme.<\/p>\r\n<p>Entre-temps, les efforts du Gabon pour se pr\u00e9senter comme un chef de file sur le plan environnemental dans la r\u00e9gion \u00e9taient d\u00e9j\u00e0 remis en question. L\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/afrique\/article\/2021\/06\/22\/le-gabon-retribue-pour-la-protection-de-ses-forets_6085208_3212.html\">le pays a re\u00e7u un premier paiement de 17 millions de dollars de l\u2019Initiative pour la for\u00eat d\u2019Afrique centrale (CAFI)<\/a>\u00a0en r\u00e9compense pour la r\u00e9duction d\u2019\u00e9missions caus\u00e9es par le d\u00e9boisement et la d\u00e9gradation des for\u00eats en 2016 et 2017, alors m\u00eame que les donn\u00e9es de la\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/3\/ca9825fr\/ca9825fr.pdf\">la FAO<\/a>\u00a0et\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalforestwatch.org\/dashboards\/country\/GAB\/?category=summary&amp;lang=fr&amp;location=WyJjb3VudHJ5IiwiR0FCIl0&amp;map=eyJjZW50ZXIiOnsibGF0IjotMC44NDgxNzM0NDU0ODkwODYyLCJsbmciOjExLjYwMzkyNTIyNTAxNDcxNn0sInpvb20iOjUuMjM0ODgwNDYzNDI2OTE3LCJjYW5Cb3VuZCI6ZmFsc2UsImRhdGFzZXRzIjpbeyJkYXRhc2V0IjoicG9saXRpY2FsLWJvdW5kYXJpZXMiLCJsYXllcnMiOlsiZGlzcHV0ZWQtcG9saXRpY2FsLWJvdW5kYXJpZXMiLCJwb2xpdGljYWwtYm91bmRhcmllcyJdLCJib3VuZGFyeSI6dHJ1ZSwib3BhY2l0eSI6MSwidmlzaWJpbGl0eSI6dHJ1ZX0seyJkYXRhc2V0IjoidHJlZS1jb3Zlci1sb3NzIiwibGF5ZXJzIjpbInRyZWUtY292ZXItbG9zcyJdLCJvcGFjaXR5IjoxLCJ2aXNpYmlsaXR5Ijp0cnVlLCJwYXJhbXMiOnsidGhyZXNob2xkIjozMCwidmlzaWJpbGl0eSI6dHJ1ZX19XX0&amp;showMap=true&amp;treeLossPct=eyJoaWdobGlnaHRlZCI6ZmFsc2V9\">Global Forest Watch<\/a>\u00a0montrent que la perte des for\u00eats primaires avait en fait augment\u00e9 durant cette p\u00e9riode, atteignant son troisi\u00e8me plus haut niveau depuis 2001. Par ailleurs, plusieurs grands projets d\u2019infrastructure et d\u2019industries extractives et agroalimentaires sont pr\u00e9vus dans des zones \u00e9cologiquement sensibles du pays, tandis que le gouvernement a repouss\u00e9 \u00e0 2025 son objectif de faire du Gabon le premier pays \u00e0 exiger la certification FSC pour toutes ses concessions foresti\u00e8res.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>Joe Eisen, Directeur ex\u00e9cutif de RFUK, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 :<\/p>\r\n<blockquote><p>\"La situation \u00e0 laquelle Massaha est confront\u00e9e d\u00e9ment le statut du Gabon en tant que soi-disant leader environnemental dans la r\u00e9gion.
