{"id":8110,"date":"2024-05-30T10:39:57","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T09:39:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rainforestfoundationuk.org\/?p=8110"},"modified":"2024-05-30T10:39:57","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T09:39:57","slug":"savourer-le-succes-des-petits-producteurs-de-cacao-au-perou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rainforestfoundationuk.org\/fr\/savouring-the-success-of-small-cocoa-producers-in-peru\/","title":{"rendered":"Savourer le succ\u00e8s des petits producteurs de cacao au P\u00e9rou"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t\n\t<p>During a recent visit to the fifth edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gob.pe\/institucion\/minam\/noticias\/958927-descubre-y-disfruta-la-riqueza-natural-del-peru-en-el-5-festival-de-la-biodiversidad\">Biodiversity Fair<\/a> organised by the Peruvian Ministry of Environment, Rainforest Foundation UK&#8217;s Peru Coordinator, Daniela Velit, had the opportunity to catch up in Lima with Felixto Cabanillas, the president of our partner, Kemito Ene, an\u00a0Indigenous cooperative that represents hundreds of Ash\u00e1ninka cocoa producers in Peru. RFUK works with Kemito Ene to support Ash\u00e1ninka families produce sustainable, organic cocoa and sell it to international markets to enhance their livelihoods while preserving their ancestral forests. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over a shared lunch at his exhibition stand, we delved into the cooperative&#8217;s exciting lineup of upcoming events and competitions. Among the highlights discussed were Kemito Ene&#8217;s participation in prestigious fairs such as the renowned <a href=\"https:\/\/salondelcacaoychocolate.pe\/\"><i>Salon del Cacao y Chocolate<\/i><\/a><i>,<\/i> the <a href=\"https:\/\/noticias.madrededios.com\/articulo\/local\/luis-otsuka-madre-dios-sera-sede-expoamazonica-2024\/20230925101738024429.html\">ExpoAmaz\u00f3nica<\/a> and the esteemed <a href=\"https:\/\/ficafepuno.pe\/\">Ficaf\u00e9<\/a>. However, one event that particularly piqued our interest was a prestigious contest for the best quality cocoa. This <a href=\"https:\/\/appcacao.org\/concurso-nacional-de-cacao-de-calidad\/\">competition<\/a> could potentially lead to a grand finale in the culinary capital of Paris later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With a palpable sense of optimism, Felixto shared his confidence in Kemito Ene&#8217;s chances of success. This accolade not only underscores the exceptional quality of cocoa cultivated in Jun\u00edn but also serves as a testament to the dedication and expertise of the region&#8217;s small producers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As we bid farewell to Felixto, we couldn&#8217;t help but feel inspired by his and Kemito Ene&#8217;s passion and commitment.
