Rory is a Geographic Information Systems and Web Developer with many years of experience working with International Development charities and NGOs. He has been pivotal in the development of online GIS mapping systems enabling community engagement, environmental analysis and government regulation of extractive industries in West Africa, Indonesia and the Caribbean. Rory specialises in participatory approaches to GIS data collection, satellite data interpretation and analysis, and the delivery of data-insights through intuitive web-interfaces. His previous Web-GIS projects include: deforestation analysis in Indonesia; monitoring oil spills in the Niger Delta; detecting industrial gas flares in Nigeria using satellite data; forecasting water availability in the Caribbean; collaborative GIS data collection for remote communities. Rory holds an MSc in Geographic Information Science and Systems, a BA in Communications and Media, and a HND in Digital Media Production.
