RFUK is inviting proposals from qualified consultants or consultancy teams to develop participatory guidance manual for the Kivu-Kinshasa Green Corridor (Couloir Vert) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Purpose of the consultancy
The objective of the consultancy is to develop a practical, internationally credible and context-appropriate participatory governance manual that incorporates:
- the principles, processes and procedures for participatory governance of the Couloir Vert;
- methods for public inquiry and identification of rights-holders, including participatory mapping requirements; and
- procedures for free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) of local populations.

Who Should Apply?
We welcome proposals from individual consultants or multidisciplinary teams with strong expertise in rainforest conservation and sustainable development in the Congo Basin.Ā Successful consultants will bring proven experience in rights-based and participatory approaches, a sound understanding of environmental and social safeguards, and the ability to engage effectively with both civil society and government stakeholders. Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and French are essential.
The consultancy will work closely with RFUK, APEM and other members of the Independent Committee and is expected to involve approximately six-nine months of intermittent and/or full-time engagement, depending on the proposed methodology and workplan.
The anticipated start date is 4 January 2027. We anticipate that the assignment will require up to 60 consultancy days in total. Applicants should clearly indicate the number of days allocated to each proposed milestone and deliverable as part of their methodology and budget submission.
