Last year, we launched our Forêts communautaires project in western Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), supporting local villages to formally take control of their traditional rainforest home in order to manage the land collectively and sustainably.

The first phase of this project has focused on informing these remote communities about relevant laws and guiding them through the sometimes complex legal process involved in setting up their own officially recognised community forests. The video below offers a look at this initial phase of our project, documenting the important work on the ground of our local Congolese partners, GASHE (Group d'Action pour Sauver l'Homme et Son Environnement).
