The rainforest is a home, a habitat, a shelter, a pharmacy, a supermarket and an ecosystem that supports many lives and livelihoods. Rainforests cover just 6% of the Earth’s land surface, but are home to over 80% of known terrestrial species and tens of millions of indigenous people who rely on the forest every day. Yet most forest dependent people are unable to defend the lands on which they live from destruction, theft and resource exploitation.
