RFUK is inviting proposals from qualified consultants or consultancy teams to undertake an independent feasibility assessment of a potential certification scheme for the Kivu-Kinshasa Green Corridor (Couloir Vert) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Purpose of the consultancy
The consultancy will assess whether a certification scheme could be a credible, effective and economically viable tool for promoting sustainable investment and green economy activities within the Green Corridor. The assessment will examine:
- Whether a CV certification scheme is a viable policy instrument and identify the conditions under which it could operate effectively.
- Whether a certification framework could satisfy relevant UK and European legal and policy requirement.
- How conflicts of interest and credibility risks inherent in certification systems could be avoided or mitigated.
- how a certification scheme could support community-led initiatives, Indigenous and local communities where relevant, and smaller project developers.
Who Should Apply?
Applications are welcomed from individual consultants or multidisciplinary teams with expertise in environmental governance, certification systems, sustainability standards, regulatory compliance, rights-based approaches, and experience in the Congo Basin and/or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The consultancy is expected to run for approximately 4-6 months, starting in January 2027, with an estimated maximum input of 30 consultancy days.
